5 Principles in Remote Sensing Activities According to New Regulations

On January 04, 2019, the Government of Vietnam signed and promulgated Decree 03/2019/ND-CP on remote sensing activities.

According to the provisions of Decree 03, from February 20, 2019, remote sensing activities must be based on the following principles:

- Remote sensing image data, metadata, and remote sensing products must be regularly updated and provided fully, accurately, and promptly.- Infrastructure works for receiving remote sensing image data built with state budget are public assets, must be inherited, used collectively, and managed and protected.- The national remote sensing image database must be maintained, operated, and regularly updated to build and update the national geographic data infrastructure, national topographic maps, and national geographic spatial data.- The central budget ensures for ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government of Vietnam to organize and implement state management of remote sensing; build and operate systems for receiving remote sensing image data.- The local budget ensures that People's Committees at all levels organize and implement state management of remote sensing; collect, store, process, provide, exploit, and use remote sensing image data.
