3 Cases That Require Establishing Procedures for Maintenance of Irrigation Infrastructure

On May 2, 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Circular 05/2019/TT-BNNPTNT prescribing policies and procedures for the maintenance of hydraulic infrastructure assets.

According to the provisions of Circular 05/2019/TT-BNNPTNT, the establishment of maintenance procedures must be carried out in the following cases:

- Special important irrigation works, large irrigation works, medium irrigation works; dams, irrigation reservoirs must establish maintenance procedures. It is encouraged to establish maintenance procedures for small irrigation works as stipulated in Article 8 of Circular 05/2019/TT-BNNPTNT.- Organizations and individuals exploiting irrigation works can apply the maintenance procedures of similar suitable irrigation works without the need to establish separate maintenance procedures after having the written consent of the owner.- Organizations and individuals exploiting irrigation works can establish maintenance procedures for the entire system or for each individual work under their management.
