17 test methods for assessing engine oil specifications

According to Circular 06, the indicators of internal combustion engine lubricating oil are determined using the following methods:

- TCVN 3171:2011 (ASTM D445-11) Transparent and opaque petroleum fluids - Method for determining kinematic viscosity (and calculating dynamic viscosity);- ISO 3104:1994 Petroleum products - Transparent and opaque liquids - Determination of kinematic viscosity and calculation of dynamic viscosity;- TCVN 6019:2010 (ASTM D2270-04) Petroleum products - Calculation of viscosity index from kinematic viscosity at 40°C and 100°C;- TCVN 3167:2008 (ASTM D2896-07a) Petroleum products - Total base number determination (potentiometric titration method using perchloric acid);- TCVN 2699:1995 Petroleum products - Method for determining the open cup flash point;- TCVN 7498:2005 (ASTM D92-02b) Bitumen - Method for determining the flashpoint and fire point by open cup apparatus;- ASTM D892-13 Standard Test Method for Foaming Characteristics of Lubricating Oils;- ISO 6247:1998 Petroleum products - Determination of foaming characteristics of lubricating oils;- ASTM D5185-13e1 Standard Test Method for Determination of Additive elements, wear metals, and contaminants in used lubricating oils and determination of selected elements in base oils by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry;- TCVN 7866:2008 (ASTM D4951-06) Lubricating oils - Determination of additive elements by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP);- ASTM D4628-05 Standard Test Method for Analysis of Barium, Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc in Unused Lubricating Oils by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry;- TCVN 2692:2007 (ASTM D95-05e1) Petroleum products & Bitumen - Determination of water content by distillation method;- TCVN 2694:2007 (ASTM D130-04e1) Petroleum products - Method for determining copper corrosion by copper strip test;- ASTM D4055-02 Standard Test Method for Pentane Insolubles by Membrane Filtration;- TCVN 2689:2007 (ASTM D874-06) Lubricating oils and additives - Method for determining sulfate ash;- ISO 3987:2010 Petroleum products - Determination of sulfated ash in lubricating oils and additives;- TCVN 6702:2013 (ASTM D3244-07a) Treatment of test results to determine conformity to technical specifications.
