The article below will list 12 types of vehicles exempted from ferry service fares from January 1, 2025, according to the latest regulations.

On November 14, 2024, the Minister of Transport of Vietnam issued Circular 33/2024/TT-BGTVT stipulating the management of ferry service fares invested from state budget funds under management of central-level.

12 types of vehicles exempt from ferry service fares in Vietnam from January 01, 2025

From January 1, 2025, the types of vehicles specified in Article 3 of Circular 33/2024/TT-BGTVT will be exempt from ferry service fares invested from state budget funds under management of central-level:

(1) Ambulances and vehicles currently transporting accident victims to emergency locations.

(2) Fire trucks of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police and rescue forces, and fire trucks of other forces mobilized for firefighting duties with priority signals according to legal regulations.

(3) Agricultural and forestry machines including tractors, plows, tillers, grass cutters, and threshers.

(4) Dike patrol vehicles; vehicles performing emergency flood and storm prevention tasks as ordered by the competent authorities.

(5) Specialized vehicles for national defense including vehicles with red license plates and white embossed letters and numbers equipped with special military devices (including fuel trucks, cranes, and troop transport vehicles understood as passenger vehicles with 12 seats or more, covered transport vehicles equipped with seats in the cargo area, control vehicles, military inspection vehicles, vehicles specifically used for transporting prisoners, rescue, and communication vehicles, and other specialized vehicles for national defense), vehicles on emergency missions using one of the legal priority signals in emergency cases.

(6) Specialized vehicles of units in the People's Public Security system including:

- Traffic police patrol cars identified by rotating lights on the roof and printed "CẢNH SÁT GIAO THÔNG" on both sides;

- Police car 113 with "CẢNH SÁT 113" printed on both sides;

- Mobile police cars with "CẢNH SÁT CƠ ĐỘNG" printed on both sides;

- Transport vehicles with installed seats in the cargo area for the People's Public Security force on duty;

- Vehicles transporting prisoners, rescue vehicles, and other specialized vehicles of the People's Public Security force;

- Specialized vehicles (satellite communication vehicles, bulletproof vehicles, anti-terrorism, anti-riot vehicles, and other specialized vehicles of the People's Public Security force);

- Vehicles of the Public Security force on urgent duty using priority signals according to legal regulations.

(7) National defense vehicles participating in exercises, troop movements, transporting weapons and equipment with military specialized vehicles guiding the way.

(8) Funeral service vehicles, including:

- Vehicles specifically designed for funeral services (including hearses and refrigerated trucks for storing and transporting bodies);

- Funeral service vehicles (including guest vehicles accompanying the hearse, flower transport vehicles, and photo escort vehicles).

(9) Convoys with Traffic Police escort vehicles.

(10) Vehicles performing duties of transporting medicines, machinery, equipment, materials, and goods to disaster areas or epidemic regions according to the legal regulations on emergency status during major disasters and dangerous epidemics.

(11) War wounded, sick soldiers, persons with disabilities, students, and children under 10 years old (including cases riding bicycles, motorbikes). When using the ferry service in this case, it is necessary to present documents (original or authenticated copies, electronically authenticated copies from the original or electronic copies issued from the original book) such as: War invalids, sick soldiers cards; certificate for war invalids, sick soldiers with citizen identification; student card, citizen identification or school certificate for students.

(12) People, vehicles using ferry services at Kenh Tat, Lang Sat ferry stations of National Highway 53, Kenh Sau ferry station of National Highway 53B.
