On September 18, 2020, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 112/2020/ND-CP on the disciplinary actions against Vietnamese officials and public employees.

Under Decree 112/2020/ND-CP, Vietnamese public employees will be subject to a reprimand if they commit a first-time violation resulting in less serious consequences, excluding violations specified in Clause 3, Article 17 of this Decree, including:
- Fail to comply with professional processes, regulations, professional ethics, and codes of conduct while performing professional activities, which have been warned in writing by competent authorities;
- Commit violations against the law on performing the duties and responsibilities of public employees; labor discipline; regulations, rules, and working regulations of public service providers, which have been reminded in writing by competent authorities;
- Take advantage of the job position for profit purposes; have a bossy and authoritarian attitude or cause difficulties or troubles to people in the course of performing assigned tasks and tasks; certify or issue legal documents to ineligible persons; offend the honor, dignity, and reputation of others while performing professional activities;
- Fail to comply with the decision on work assignment of the competent authorities; fail to perform assigned duties without a valid reason; cause disunity in the unit;
- Commit violations against the provisions of law on: crime prevention and combat; social evils prevention and combat; safety and order of society; Anti-corruption; thrift, anti-waste;
- Commit violations against the regulations of law on protection of state secrets;
- Commit violations against the provisions of law on complaints and denunciations;
- Commit violations against the provisions of law on: investment, construction; land, natural resources and environment; finance, accounting, banking; management and use of public property in the course of professional activities;
- Commit violations against the law on: domestic violence prevention and control; population, marriage and family; gender equality; Social Security; other provisions of law relating to public employees.
