the Government of Vietnam recently signed and issued Decree 03/2019/ND-CP on remote sensing activities.
According to the new regulations, remote sensing image data is exploited and used to serve the following activities:
- Monitoring and supervising environmental pollution: land and water pollution caused by household waste and industrial waste; air pollution caused by industrial and household emissions; environmental pollution due to natural disasters, etc.- Collecting information, data, performing analysis, investigation, assessment, tracking the changes in resources and the environment periodically and unexpectedly to produce reports serving socio-economic development; disaster prevention and control; monitoring drought, forest fire warning, flood developments, rescue and response to climate change; and the current state of agricultural production.- Creating and updating thematic maps and thematic databases on the current status of natural resources and the environment, the status of climate change; mapping geological scales.- Updating the national geographic database and the national topographic map system.- Serving defense and security tasks.
