On November 13, 2017, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 42/2017/TT-BYT promulgating the List of poisonous medicinal herbs for medicinal use.
According to the provisions of Circular 42/2017/TT-BYT, medicinal herbs meeting the following criteria are considered for inclusion in the list of toxic medicinal herbs:
- Medicinal herbs used as medicine with high toxicity that adversely affect the health and life of the user;- Medicinal herbs that, during use, may cause known serious adverse reactions or have been warned by the World Health Organization, authorities of Vietnam, or foreign countries to potentially cause serious adverse reactions;- Medicinal herbs used as medicine that require careful attention to usage, strict control of dosage and user subjects, and must be processed according to strict and precise technical procedures;- Medicinal herbs with a narrow dosage range, requiring caution when used, affecting diagnosis and treatment of diseases that need clinical monitoring;- Required to be prescribed in treatment with the consultation and monitoring of a physician.
