04 methods of using energy efficiently in the livestock sector

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued Circular 19/2013/TT-BNNPTNT Guiding measures for the efficient and economical use of energy in agricultural production.

To save and efficiently use energy resources in the fields of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, Article 4 Circular 19/2013/TT-BNNPTNT has introduced 05 methods that people can apply as follows:

- Plan livestock housing reasonably, make full use of natural light and ventilation when designing and constructing livestock housing, and limit the use of incandescent light bulbs for lighting and heating in livestock farms.- Build and develop biogas facilities, equipment at households and livestock establishments to treat livestock waste and create bioenergy sources.- Construct closed breeding models according to advanced standards, clean technology, water-saving, reduce feed spillage; use appropriate feed for each type of livestock and stage of growth, reproduction. Limit the use of excessive nutrients in animal husbandry.- Apply reasonable breeding technical processes, ensure hygiene, and implement strict disease prevention measures to minimize livestock loss, simultaneously reduce energy consumption when disposing of sick or dead animals.- Prioritize research, selection, and dissemination of new breed animals that have high productivity and low feed consumption per unit of product.
