04 Cases Requiring Unexpected Inspection of Ships' Pollution Prevention Systems

On March 01, 2019, the Ministry of Transport issued Circular 09/2019/TT-BGTVT National Technical Regulation on the marine pollution prevention systems of ships.

According to the provisions in Circular 09/2019/TT-BGTVT, in the following cases, the marine pollution prevention system of fishing vessels must undergo an ad-hoc inspection:

- When there is damage to important parts of the structural components and equipment that were subject to the initial inspection, or when repairs or modifications are made to those damaged parts.- When there are changes to the vessel's Oil Pollution Emergency Plan, the Marine Pollution Emergency Plan for noxious liquid substances, the Ship-to-Ship Oil Transfer Plan, and/or the Volatile Organic Compound Management Plan that were equipped on the vessel and subject to the initial inspection.- When verifying conformity with regulations applicable to existing ships.- Other situations deemed necessary.
