03 Main Contents of the Training Program for Ship Inspection Officers

Recently, the Minister of Transport has agreed to issue Circular 54/2013/TT-BGTVT stipulating regulations on ship inspection officers.

Currently, the Vietnam Maritime Administration issues a training program for ship inspectors and organizes annual training sessions for Vietnamese ship inspectors and state port inspectors.

To be specific, Circular 54/2013/TT-BGTVT stipulates the ship inspector training program, which includes the following main contents:

- Vietnam laws, international treaties related to maritime safety, maritime security, pollution prevention, and maritime labor conditions;- Ship inspection operations;- Ship inspection procedures.

Additionally, Circular 54 also stipulates that ship inspectors shall practice inspections on Vietnamese ships and foreign ships anchored or docked in Vietnamese port waters under the guidance of competent and experienced state port inspectors assigned by the Director of the Maritime Administration.
