When newly recruited, public employees will have to undergo a probation period to get acquainted with their tasks. Public employees on probation in Vietnam will receive 100% of their salary and allowances if they fall into one of the three following cases.

According to the provisions of Article 23 of Decree 115/2020/ND-CP, during the probationary period, public employees in Vietnam shall enjoy the following policies:
- During the probationary period, ublic employee on probations are entitled to 85% of the first level salary of the recruited professional title;
- If a ublic employee on probation has a master's degree suitable for the job position requirements, they are entitled to 85% of the second level salary of the recruited professional title;
- If a ublic employee on probation has a doctoral degree suitable for the job position requirements, they are entitled to 85% of the third level salary of the recruited professional title.
Thus, it can be seen that ublic employee on probations are entitled to 85% of the first, second, or third level salary of the recruited professional title, depending on the suitable qualifications for the job position requirements. However, if falling into the following cases, ublic employee on probations will be entitled to 100% of the salary and allowances for the corresponding professional title:
Case 1: Trainees working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.
Case 2: Trainees working in hazardous and dangerous professions.
Case 3: Trainees who have completed military service; police service; army officers, police officers, professional soldiers who have returned to civilian life, those who changed sectors, students graduating from reserve officer training schools, graduates who became reserve officers, young volunteers, and young intellectual volunteers who have participated in rural and mountainous development for at least 24 months and have completed their tasks.
Alongside the policies enjoyed during the probationary period of public employees, Clause 2 of Article 21 of Decree 115/2020/ND-CP stipulates the specific probationary duration for public employees in Vietnam as follows:
- 12 months for those recruited into professional titles requiring university education standards. Specifically, for the professional title of doctors, it is 09 months;
- 09 months for those recruited into professional titles requiring college education standards;
- 06 months for those recruited into professional titles requiring intermediate education standards.
Note: In case of probation trainees taking sick leave or having valid reasons for less than 14 days and approved by the head of the public service provider where the probation period policies are applied for public employees, this period will be counted in the probationary period (new provision compared to before)..
Thus, during the probationary period, ublic employee on probations working in mountainous areas, islands, remote and isolated areas, hazardous professions, who have completed military service, etc., will be entitled to 100% of the salary and allowances in Vietnam.
