Monthly allowance for police officers to increase by 7.4% in 2022, Vietnam

From January 1, 2022, monthly allowance for police officers who are eligible for the monthly allowance will be increased by 7.4% according to the regulations of Circular 14/2022/TT-BCA.

1. Subjects eligible for monthly allowance increase in Vietnam

Article 1 of Circular 14/2022/TT-BCA stipulates an increase in the monthly allowance for police officers who are receiving the following monthly allowances:

- Officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security of Vietnam who participated in the resistance war against the US, joined the People's Police of Vietnam from April 30, 1974 or earlier, had less than 20 years working in the People's Public Security of Vietnam, quit or been discharged from the army; who are not currently receiving retirement benefits, loss of working capacity or monthly sick soldiers benefits in one of the following cases:

+ Having from15 years to under 20 years working in the People's Police of Vietnam;

+ Having from15 years to less than 20 years working in the People's Police of Vietnam; having quit, discharged from the army, returned to the locality, then worked in communes, wards or townships with salary from the state budget and participated in compulsory social insurance but not satisfied the conditions or continued to pay voluntary social insurance premiums to be eligible for the retirement regime as prescribed in Decree 152/2006/ND-CP.

- Officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security of Vietnam who were recruited into the Public Security after April 30, 1975, to directly participate in the war to defend the Fatherland and perform international duties, and have worked for less than 20 years in the police force. Police officers who are not currently entitled to retirement benefits, loss of work capacity or monthly sick soldiers benefits in one of the following cases:

+ Having served, demobilized, or retired before April 1, 2000.

+ Invalids who have been discharged from the army before April 1, 2000; Severely wounded soldiers are being cared for in convalescence groups for wounded soldiers managed by the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs or have returned to their families.

+ Changing positions or changing to a public security officer and then quit before April 1, 2000 but fail to do so or having returned to the locality without settling the regime.

+ Being discharged from the army to work for international cooperation or being sent to work for international cooperation to return home and then being discharged before April 1, 2000.

2. An increase in monthly allowance for police officers in Vietnam

From January 1, 2022, the monthly allowance of police officers mentioned in session 1 shall be adjusted according to the following formula:

Monthly allowance from 01/01/2022 = Allowance rate for December 2021 x 1,074

Thus, from 2022, the monthly allowance for police officers will be increased by 7.4% on top of the allowance received in December 2021.

Example 1: Comrade Nguyen Van A is eligible for monthly allowance as prescribed in Joint Circular 05/2010/TTLT-BCA-BLDTBXH-BTC.

Comrade A's working period is 18 years and 06 months; In December 2021, Mr. A is entitled to a subsidy of 2,145,998 VND.

From January 1, 2022, the monthly allowance of Mr. Nguyen Van A is: 2,145,998 VND x 1,074 = 2,304,802 VND.

Example 2: Comrade Pham Van B is eligible for monthly allowance as prescribed in Joint Circular 05/2012/TTLT-BCA-BLDTBXH-BTC.

Comrade B has a working period of 16 years and 10 months; In December 2021, Mr. B will receive a subsidy of 1,975,450 VND.

From January 1, 2022, the monthly allowance of Mr. Pham Van B is: 1,975,450 VND x 1,074 = 2,121,633 VND.
