Latest regulations on annual leaves, national holidays of military officers in Vietnam

Annual leaves, national holidays of military officers in Vietnam are specified in Circular 153/2017/TT-BQP, specifically as follows:

Annual leaves of military officers in Vietnam

(i) Officers are entitled to annual leaves as follows:

- Under 15 years of service, 20 days off;

- From full 15 years of service to less than 25 years of service, 25 days off;

- From full 25 years of service or more, they are entitled to 30 days of leave.

(ii) Officers in units stationed far from their families (husband or wife; natural or legally adopted children; father and mother (both husband and wife); legal carers) when taking annual leave, they are entitled to additional leave:

* 10 days for cases:

- To station at a distance of 500 km or more from his family;

- To station troops in remote and border areas at least 300 km away from their families;

- To station on the islands of the Truong Sa and DK archipelagos.

* 05 days for the following cases:

- To station troops from 300 km to less than 500 km away from his family;

- To station troops in remote, isolated, and border areas at least 200 km away from their families and with a regional coefficient of 0.5 or higher;

- To station on the islands enjoying the regional allowance.

Officers in units stationed far from their families, due to duty requirements, cannot take annual leave. The following year, unit commanders consider and decide to allow their subordinates to take compensatory leave for the previous year. In special cases, due to the requirements of the unit's tasks, it is still not possible to arrange for the officers to go on leave according to the provisions of Circular 13/2012/TT-BQP.

(iii) Note:

- Travel time is not included in the number of annual leave days according to the above regulations.

- Annually command units at regimental level or equivalent or higher, based on the unit's combat readiness, training, and work tasks, planning for officers to take leave, the rate of regular leave should not exceed 15% of the total number of officers in the unit. Non-blocking units are ready to fight, depending on the nature and requirements of the mission. Academies and schools mainly arrange for officers to take leave in the summer.

* Every year, officers are entitled to public holidays and New Year's holidays as follows:

- New Year's Day: 01 day (January 1 of the solar calendar);

- Lunar New Year: 05 days;

- Victory Day: 01 day (April 30 of the calendar);

- International Labor Day: 01 day (May 1 of the solar calendar);

- National Day: 02 days (September 2 of the solar calendar and 01 day immediately before or after);

- Hung King's death anniversary: 01 day (March 10 of the lunar calendar).

- The founding date of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22).

* For units performing combat-ready missions, training, or due to duty requirements, holidays and New Year's holidays shall be performed accordingly by unit commanders at regimental level and above, based on the situation of unit tasks.
