Recently, the Government of Vietnam reported to the National Assembly the implementation situation of the State budget for 2019, the State budget estimates, and the Central budget allocation plan for 2020 in Vietnam. Notably, the report proposed increasing the statutory pay rate for 2020 to VND 1.6 million/month and received widespread support.

Expected Salary Scale of Officials and Public Employees for the Year 2020 in Vietnam
If this proposal by the Government of Vietnam is approved by the National Assembly of Vietnam, the monthly salary and related allowances calculated based on the base salary of officials and public employees will also be increased accordingly.

- Decree 17/2013/ND-CP dated February 19, 2013 amending and supplementing some Articles of Decree 204/2004/ND-CP.
"The salary of officials and public employees (state sector) is calculated based on the statutory pay rate, so raising the statutory pay rate will be significant for these subjects, helping them earn higher incomes to improve and care for their lives. People should also know that the salary of those working in the state sector will increase significantly from 2021 due to the previously issued salary reform policies, notably the abolition of the statutory pay rate, with 2020 being the last year applying the policies of the statutory pay rate for officials and public employees."
