When renewing household health insurance on the National Public Service Portal, households will receive a reduction on household health insurance premiums. The following article will show you the procedure for receiving reduction on household health insurance premium for online renewal in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the process of deducting payment when renewing household health insurance cards online is as follows:
Step 1. File declaration
The declarant chooses to make the declaration on the National Public Service Portal or on the Social Insurance Public Service Portal of Vietnam (If declaring on the National Public Service Portal, the system will automatically navigate to the Social Insurance Public Service Portal) and fufill information, including:
- Information of Household Head: Full name; date of birth; sex; personal identification number;
- List of members with the same permanent residence registration or temporary residence registration requesting health insurance cards renewal by household: health insurance card number, full name, date of birth, gender, relationship with household head, and number of renewal months.
Step 2. Online application process
After declaring information, the software system automatically checks, compares, and authenticates the information of family members who have the same permanent residence registration or the same temporary residence registration with Vietnam's National Population Database:
- In case the software system which authenticates the information of members in the national population database do not have the same permanent residence registration or the same temporary residence registration, the declarant shall be notified:
"Members who declare that they do not have the same permanent address or the same temporary residence address in the national population database, please contact the police agency of their place of residence directly for guidance on updating and adjusting the information about the residence of the members."
- In case the software system which authenticates the information of members in the national population database has the same permanent residence registration or the same temporary residence registration, they shall:
+ Automatically continue to verify the health insurance participation status of each member in the database of Vietnam Social Insurance;
+ Accurately determine the amount to be paid by each family member in the order of reduction of the family health insurance premium (apply according to current regulations of Vietnam's Law on Health Insurance) to notify the declarant of the amount to be paid online on the Public Service Portal (with details: the premiums of each health insurance card number corresponding to the renewal time of each card).
Step 3. Pay online on the Public Service Portal
The declarant makes the online payment on the notice of premiums according to the instructions.
Step 4. Allocate money in the Vietnam's Social Insurance Agency System
After receiving the declarant's payment from the banking system, the software system automatically compares the bank's money transfer documents with the card renewal information; automatically allocates the premium; automatically updates the collection; and automatically renews the use value of the health insurance card at the social insurance agency (where the insured person participates before renewing).
Step 5. Return the result to the declarant.
After making a successful payment, the software system notifies the declarant:
- Receipt of payment.
- Announce the successful renewal result of each participant: "Participants continue to use the health insurance card (issued) for medical examination and treatment from the date of receipt of this notice."
