People with Social Insurance and Health Insurance in Vietnam Should Be Aware of These Changes Starting from July 1, 2018

From July 1, 2018, the statutory pay rate in Vietnam was increased by 90,000 VND/month, raising the current rate to 1,390,000 VND/month. Some benefits for social insurance and health insurance participants in Vietnam were also changed.

1. Increase in the Medical Expenses Covered 100% by Health Insurance in Vietnam

Currently, the level of medical expenses covered 100% by health insurance is below 195,000 VND. As of July 01, 2018, medical expenses below 208,500 VND will still be fully covered by health insurance.

2. Increase in Various Allowances for Social Insurance Participants in Vietnam

To adjust in accordance with the increase in the statutory pay rate, various allowances for employees are also raised. To be specific:

Monthly allowance for those with a labor capacity reduction of 31% or more 390,000 VND for a 31% reduction in labor capacity. For each additional 1% reduction, an additional 26,000 VND is provided. 417,000 VND for a 31% reduction in labor capacity. For each additional 1% reduction, an additional 27,800 VND is provided.
Service allowance for those with a labor capacity reduction of 31% or more 1,300,000 VND 1,390,000 VND
One-time allowance in case of death due to labor accident or occupational disease 46,800,000 VND 50,040,000 VND
Convalescence and rehabilitation allowance after treating injuries or diseases Convalescence at home 325,000 VND 347,500 VND
