In Ho Chi Minh City, how do students pay health insurance during the quarantine period?

Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Social Security has issued Official Dispatch 3255/BHXH-QLT on the collection of money, granting the value of using health insurance cards (HI) to students during the time of social distancing.

This Official Dispatch clearly states that in order to ensure the benefits of health insurance for students in a timely manner in accordance with the law, the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance instructs educational institutions in the area to collect, issue new, extend the validity of the health insurance card during the implementation of measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic as follows:

- Educational institutions based on the list of students studying at schools with expired health insurance cards or without health insurance cards to send emails/messages to their parents requesting a transfer of health insurance premiums, then submit them to the Social Insurance Agency for the timely renewal of health insurance cards in order to ensure health insurance benefits for students.

- During the implementation of social distancing, if the school is unable to collect health insurance premiums from students due to force majeure, students have not yet paid or have not paid the full amount according to the list, they would send a written commitment to pay the full amount to the social insurance agency to be issued a new or extended use of health insurance cards for students in a timely manner.

In case the school cannot collect the money from the student, it is responsible for making a refund to the social insurance agency.

- Immediately after the expiration of the time to implement social distancing under the document of the competent State agency, the School collects and pays the full amount of student health insurance to the Social Insurance agency according to the regulations.

Therefore, during the period of social distancing in Ho Chi Minh City, students and their parents can transfer health insurance premiums to the school based on the school's email/message. If the school cannot collect money during the period of separation, students can pay health insurance according to the instructions of the school after the distance is over.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Social Security also requested educational institutions in the area to urgently guide students to install and use the VSSID application to use the image of the health insurance card on the VssID application when going for medical examination and treatment replaces the use of paper health insurance cards in the school year 2021-2022.

At the same time, assigning responsibility to the homeroom teacher to deploy to each student, student and student's parents to ensure 100% of students install and use the VSSID application.
