New health insurance card model

The back of the health insurance card will feature the phrase "NOTES" with the following 05 main points:

  1. When visiting for medical examination and treatment, present the health insurance card with a photo. If there is no photo, present it along with valid identification. For children under 6 years old, only the health insurance card needs to be presented.

  2. Each participant of health insurance will be issued a card with a unique code. Use this code and register transactions at https://dichvucong.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn to continue participating in health insurance, reissue, or replace the card, and check medical expenses covered by health insurance.

  3. To know the information on the health insurance card, visit https://baohiemxahoi.gov.vn or text: BH THE {health insurance card code} to 8079.

  4. For any inquiries, contact the social security office of the province or district that issued the card, or call the hotline at 19009068 for support and answers.

  5. The health insurance card must be carefully preserved, not lent to others. In case of loss or damage, promptly notify the social security agency.

Compared to the current health insurance card model being used under Decision 1313/QD-BHXH, the back of the health insurance card features the phrase "NOTES" with the following 05 main points:

  1. The health insurance card is the basis to determine the named individual's entitlement to health insurance benefits.

  2. Each health insurance participant is issued one card and one unchangeable code throughout their participation in the health insurance program.

  3. When visiting for medical examination and treatment, present the health insurance card with a photo. If there is no photo, present it along with identification. For children under 6 years old, only the health insurance card needs to be presented.

  4. Carefully preserve the card, do not lend it to others, and remember the code on the health insurance card.

  5. In case of loss or damage, a fee must be paid for the reissue or replacement of the card as per regulations.

Thus, it is evident that the health insurance card model under Decision 1666/QD-BHXH has been entirely updated compared to the current card model. Importantly, when the new health insurance card model is applied, each participant will be issued a card with a unique health insurance card code. By using this unique code and registering transactions at https://dichvucong.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn, citizens can continue participating in health insurance, reissue or replace the health insurance card, and check the medical expenses covered by health insurance.

Additionally, during the waiting period for changing to the new health insurance card as per Decision 1666/QD-BHXH (effective April 1, 2021), if the current health insurance card issued to participants is still valid, it can continue to be used for medical examination and treatment. Furthermore, unused health insurance card stocks printed under Decision 1313/QD-BHXH before April 1, 2021, will continue to be used for issuing to participants.
