Health care providers in Vietnam should be aware of cases where they are not entitled to health insurance even though they are on the right route.

The cases that are not entitled to health insurance in Vietnam despite the right route include:

- Expenses in the following cases have been paid by the state budget:

+ Medical examination, treatment, rehabilitation, periodical pregnancy examination, childbirth in Vietnam;

+ Transporting patients from the district level to the upper level for the subjects specified at Points a, d, e, g, h and i, Clause 3, Article 12 of the Law on Health Insurance in case of emergency or during inpatient treatment must be transferred to the professional and technical routes.

- Recovering and convalescent at nursing facilities.

- Medical examination in Vietnam.

- Laboratory tests and diagnosis for pregnancy which is not treatment purpose.

- Propagate and disseminate, policies and legislation on social health insurance;

- Using aesthetic services in Vietnam.

- Treatment of strabismus, myopia and refractive defects of the eye, except for children under 6 years of age.

- Using of medical replacement supplies including artificial limbs, glass eyes, false teeth, hearing aid device, and motional supporting device for the purpose of medical examination and treatment, and rehabilitation.

- Medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation for occupational diseases, work-injured and disasters.

- Medical examination and treatment in case of drug addiction, alcoholism and other addictive substances.

- Medical, forensic and mental forensic assessment.

- Participate in clinical trials, scientific research in Vietnam.
