On December 11, 2023, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 23/2023/TT-BGDDT regulations on teaching Vietnamese to ethnic minority children before entering first grade.
Ethnic minority children in Vietnam before entering first grade are ethnic minority children who are preparing to enter first grade and are old enough to enter first grade according to the regulations of the Primary School Charter.
Specifically, the contents of teaching and learning Vietnamese for ethnic minority children before entering first grade include:
(1) Prepare yourself for first grade;
(2) Form basic learning skills;
(3) Form and develop listening and speaking abilities;
(4) Form and develop reading capacity;
(5) Form and develop writing capacity;
These contents are arranged in a scientific order, corresponding to 20 lessons, and expressed through topics and themes that are close and suitable for children in an approach to the capacity and qualities of learners (Detailed content can be found in the Appendix issued with Circular 23/2023/TT-BGDDT).
It is known that the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 23/2023/TT-BGDDT to achieve the following:
- Organize, manage, and guide Vietnamese language teaching and learning activities for ethnic minority children before entering first grade.
- Prepare a ready mind, create excitement and initiative for children in learning, and form some basic learning skills and the ability to use Vietnamese, communication skills, and social behavior for ethnic minority children before entering first grade.
- Identify the contents that need to be coordinated between school, family, and society in teaching and learning Vietnamese for ethnic minority children before entering first grade.
