Which provinces and cities in Vietnam are permitted to launch high-altitude fireworks?
Based on Clause 1, Article 11 of Decree 137/2020/ND-CP on cases for organizing firework displays:
Article 11. Cases for Organizing Firework Displays
- Lunar New Year
a) Centrally-run cities and the province of Thua Thien Hue are allowed to launch high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks, lasting no longer than 15 minutes; other provinces are allowed to launch low-altitude fireworks, also lasting no longer than 15 minutes;
b) Firework displays are held at the time of the Lunar New Year's Eve.
- Hung Kings' Commemoration Day
a) Phu Tho Province is allowed to launch low-altitude fireworks, lasting no longer than 15 minutes, with the display location at the Hung Temple area;
b) Display time is 9:00 PM on the 9th day of the 3rd lunar month.
- National Day
a) Centrally-run cities and the province of Thua Thien Hue are allowed to launch high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks, lasting no longer than 15 minutes; other provinces are allowed to launch low-altitude fireworks, also lasting no longer than 15 minutes;
b) Display time is 9:00 PM on September 2.
- Dien Bien Phu Victory Day
a) Dien Bien Province is allowed to launch low-altitude fireworks, lasting no longer than 15 minutes, with the display location at Dien Bien Phu City;
b) Display time is 9:00 PM on May 7.

According to the above regulation, centrally-run cities and the province of Thua Thien Hue are permitted to launch high-altitude fireworks.
What is the holiday schedule for Lunar New Year 2025 in Vietnam?
On November 26, 2024, the Office of the Government of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 8726/VPCP-KGVX in 2024 regarding the Lunar New Year and some public holidays in 2025.
For the Lunar New Year 2025, employees are entitled to the following days off:
[1] For officials and public employees: Lunar New Year 2025 holiday from January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon) to the end of February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake), totaling 9 days.
[2] For employees: Employees are entitled to 5 days off during the Lunar New Year 2025 according to the Labor Code 2019.
However, in 2025, preceding the official 5-day holiday are 2 weekend days, Saturday and Sunday, January 25-26, 2025, corresponding to the 26th and 27th days of the lunar month. Following the official holidays are another 2 weekend days, Saturday and Sunday, February 1-2, 2025.
Thus, employees will also have a continuous 9-day Lunar New Year holiday from Saturday, January 25, 2025, to the end of Sunday, February 2, 2025 (corresponding to the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake).
Additionally, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs also encourages businesses to allow employees to follow the above 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
