Dietary Regimen for Female Inmates Raising Children

Request for consultation: In the case of a female inmate who is raising a 14-month-old child, what are the policies regarding the monthly food allowance?

According to Clause 1 and Clause 3, Article 4 of Decree 120/2017/ND-CP, the regulations are as follows:

  1. The monthly food ration for detainees includes: 17 kg of medium-grade plain rice, 0.5 kg of medium-grade sugar, 15 kg of vegetables, 0.7 kg of meat, 0.8 kg of fish, 1 kg of salt, 0.75 liters of fish sauce, 0.1 kg of monosodium glutamate, and fuel equivalent to 17 kg of firewood or 15 kg of coal, 45 kWh of electricity, and 3 cubic meters of water to ensure the diet and living needs of detainees and prisoners.

The food ration for detainees is calculated on a daily basis based on the food ration for detainees.

The above rations are provided by the State and converted into money according to the local market prices where the detention facility is located.

  1. Pregnant women or women who are nursing children under 36 months of age, who are detainees or prisoners, are entitled to the same food ration as other detainees or prisoners, with an extra 30% in the quantity of meat and fish. Women detainees or prisoners who give birth will have their hospital fees paid and receive a physical nourishment equivalent to 30 kg of medium-grade plain rice.

Thus, for female inmates nursing children under 36 months, in addition to the food ration stipulated in Clause 1 above, they are entitled to an additional 30% of the quantity of meat and fish.

Sincerely!
