    • Is the 2024 graduation exam the last exam organized based on the 2006 compulsory education program in Vietnam?

According to the content of the Plan for organizing the exam and recognizing high school graduation from 2025 issued together with Decision 4068/QD-BGDDT in 2023, there are some outstanding contents as follows:

      Purpose of organizing the exam:

Correctly evaluate the learning outcomes of learners according to the goals and standards to be achieved according to the requirements of the compulsory education program 2018; Take the exam results to consider recognition of high school graduation and serve as one of the bases to evaluate the quality of teaching and learning of educational institutions and the direction of educational management agencies. Provide sufficiently reliable data for higher education and vocational education institutions to use in enrollment in the spirit of autonomy.

From there, it can be seen that 2024 is the last year the exam will be held for candidates studying the 2006 compulsory education program in Vietnam. From 2025 onwards, the content of the high school graduation exam will closely follow the content and goal of the 2018 compulsory education program.

Candidates taking the high school exam in Vietnam will only take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 optional subjects (among the remaining subjects learned in grade 12 include: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Technology).

The Ministry of Education and Training said that in the period 2025 - 2030, the high school graduation exam will continue to maintain a stable paper-based exam method in Vietnam.
