Can I join military service if I have allergic rhinitis in Vietnam?

Can I join the military if I have allergic rhinitis?

Answer: Pursuant to Appendix 1 Classification of health according to physical strength and diseases issued together with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, there are provisions:

41. Facial sinuses

+ Allergic rhinitis: Score 3

According to the provisions of Clause 4, Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, based on the score for 8 indicators recorded in the military service health card to classify the health of participating citizens. Medical examination for military service, specifically as follows:

- Type 1: 8 indicators all score 1;

- Type 2: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 2;

- Type 3: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 3;

- Type 4: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 4;

- Type 5: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 5;

- Type 6: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 6.

Thus, people with allergic rhinitis will have health type 3 in Vietnam.

And Point a, Clause 3, Article 4 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP has regulations on health standards for military recruitment as follows:

a) Draft citizens with health type 1, 2, 3 as specified in Joint Circular No. 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP dated June 30, 2016 of the Minister of Health – the Minister of National Defense on provisions for pre-enlistment check-up.

From the above regulations in Vietnam, people with allergic rhinitis will have health type 3, still ensuring health conditions to participate in military service.

If I have kidney stone disease and have good surgery, will I still not be able to join military service in Vietnam?

I would like to ask, is it true that if I have kidney stones, even when I have good surgery, I will not be able to participate in military service? I have a kidney stone on my left side, I had surgery 2 years ago.

Answer: Pursuant to Appendix 1 Classification of health according to physical strength and diseases issued together with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, there are provisions:

- Kidney stones without complications:

+ Only on one side, after surgery with good results over 1 year: Score 4

According to the provisions of Clause 4, Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, based on the score for 8 indicators recorded in the military service health card to classify the health of participating citizens. Medical examination for military service, specifically as follows:

- Type 1: 8 indicators all score 1;

- Type 2: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 2;

- Type 3: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 3;

- Type 4: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 4;

- Type 5: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 5;

- Type 6: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 6.

Thus, if you have kidney stones on only one side and have good results after surgery for over 1 year, you will have type 4 health.

From the above regulations in Vietnam, a person with kidney stones on one side, even after surgery for more than 1 year, will still have type 4 health, not ensuring the health conditions to participate in military service.

If I have a sleep disorder and have recovered, will I still not allow to participate in military service in Vietnam?

I would like to ask, if I have a sleep disorder and have recovered, will I still not allow to participate in military service in Vietnam?

Answer: Pursuant to Appendix 1 Classification of health according to physical strength and diseases issued together with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, there are provisions:

70. Sleep disorders

+ Recovered: Score 4

According to the provisions of Clause 4, Article 9 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, based on the score for 8 indicators recorded in the military service health card to classify the health of participating citizens. Medical examination for military service, specifically as follows:

- Type 1: 8 indicators all score 1;

- Type 2: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 2;

- Type 3: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 3;

- Type 4: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 4;

- Type 5: There is at least 1 indicator with a score of 5;

- Type 6: There is at least 1 criterion with a score of 6.

Thus, in case you have a health disorder but have recovered, you will have type 4 health.

From the above regulations in Vietnam, people who have a sleep disorder but have recovered will have health type 4, which does not ensure the health conditions to participate in military service.

Best regards!
