What is the salary coefficient of a Grade III High School Teacher in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 8 of the Circular 04/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulating the salary arrangement as follows:
1. Public employees appointed to the professional titles of high school teachers specified in this Circular may apply the corresponding salary table promulgated together with Decree No. 204/2004/ND-CP dated December 14 2004 of the Government on the salary regime for cadres, civil servants, public employees and the armed forces, specifically as follows:
a) Grade III high school teachers, code V.07.05.15, may apply the salary coefficient of grade A1 public employees, from the salary coefficient 2.34 to the salary coefficient 4.98;
b) Grade II upper secondary school teachers, code V.07.05.14, may apply the salary coefficient of grade A2 public employees, group A2.2, from salary coefficient 4.0 to salary coefficient 6.38 ;
c) Grade I upper secondary school teachers, code V.07.05.13, are entitled to the salary coefficient of grade A2 public employees, group A2.1, from salary coefficient 4.40 to salary coefficient 6.78 .
Pursuant to Table 3 of the Professional salary table for cadres and public employees in state-owned non-business units promulgated together with Decree 204/2004/ND-CP and according to the base salary in Clause 2, Article 3 Decree 38/2019/ND-CP is 1,490,000 VND/month as follows:

Therefore, a Grade III high school teacher has a salary coefficient of 9 levels (from 2.34 to 4.98) as above.
How many years does a Grade III high school teacher need to work to become a Grade II high school teacher in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 4.i Article 4 of the Circular 04/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulating standards of professional competence of grade II high school teachers - Code V.07.05.14 as follows:
i) Officials who take the exam or consider for promotion to the professional title of a grade II high school teacher (code V.07.05.14) must have held the professional title of a grade III high school teacher (code V.07.05.15) or equivalent for full 09 (nine) years or more (excluding the probationary period), up to the deadline for submitting the application for examination or consideration for promotion.
Therefore, a grade III high school teacher needs to have worked for full 9 (nine) years or more (excluding the probationary period), by the deadline for submitting an application for an exam or considering promotion to a grade II high school.
What are standards of a Grade III high school teacher in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 3 and 4, Article 3 of the Circular 04/2021/TT-BGDĐT stipulating standards of a Grade III high school teacher in Vietnam as follows:
3. Standards of training and retraining qualifications
a) Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in the field of teacher training, for high school teachers.
If the subject is not enough, the teacher must have a bachelor's degree in the field of teacher training, a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and a certificate of pedagogical training for high school teachers according to the program promulgated by the Minister of Education and Training;
b) Possess a certificate of training according to the professional title standards of a class III upper secondary school teacher (for upper secondary school teachers newly recruited as a class III upper secondary school teacher, a certificate must be obtained in 36 months from the date of recruitment).
4. Standards of professional and professional competence
a) Understand the guidelines, guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and State, regulations and requirements of branches and localities on upper secondary education and implement them into assigned tasks;
b) Know how to develop a teaching plan, build a number of lessons on interdisciplinary topics for knowledge that intersects between subjects; approach modern teaching methods, teaching techniques, integrated new teaching models;
c) Know how to exploit and effectively use technological equipment, teaching equipment and learning materials in teaching, educating and managing students;
d) Ability to coordinate between schools, families and society to carry out moral and lifestyle education for students; psychological counseling, career guidance, talent discovery, gifted students; supporting students in life skills education; organizing experience activities for career guidance and entrepreneurship for high school students;
dd) Be able to teach via the internet or on television according to the subject program;
e) Be able to use methods of testing and assessing the results of learning, training and students' progress towards developing students' qualities and abilities;
g) Know how to apply experiences, scientific research results and pedagogical research to practical teaching and student education or as teaching aids and equipment at upper secondary level;
h) Be capable of guiding high school students in scientific and technical research at the school level or higher;
i) Be capable of self-study and self-improvement to develop their own professional skills;
k) Have the ability to apply information technology in performing the tasks of a grade III high school teacher and being able to use foreign languages or ethnic minority languages in a number of specific assigned tasks.
Therefore, candidates for the position of Grade III high school teacher need to ensure both standards of training and retraining qualifications and professional and professional capacity as prescribed above.
