What is the maximum duration for the suspension of party activities?
Based on Article 31 of Regulation 22-QD/TW of 2021, the duration of suspension of activities is stipulated as follows:
The duration for suspending party activities and suspending the activities of the party committee is 90 days. In case of extension, the total suspension duration, including the extension, must not exceed 180 days. The suspension duration for party organizations must not exceed 90 days.
The suspension duration of party activities for party members (including committee members) who are prosecuted, detained, and the suspension duration of party activities for committee members who are prosecuted, shall comply with the time limit prescribed by law (including extensions, if any).
The head of the competent legal authority deciding to prosecute, detain, prosecute, or adjudicate citizens who are party members or committee members must immediately notify in writing (within 3 days at the latest) the above decisions (including any extensions) to the managing party committee or the inspection committee of the respective party management.
Thus, according to the above regulation, the maximum duration for suspension of party activities is no more than 180 days. If the party member violates criminal law, this duration will be calculated according to the legal regulations.
