Does the Public Employee Recruitment Exam Include an Information Technology Exam?
Based on Article 9 of Decree 115/2020/ND-CP the regulation stipulates:
Public employee recruitment examination is conducted in two rounds as follows:
Round 1: General knowledge test
a) Form of the examination: Multiple-choice test on a computer.
In case the test is conducted on a computer, the multiple-choice test content does not include the IT test.
In case the recruiting authority or unit has not yet conditions to organize the test on the computer, a paper-based multiple-choice test will be conducted.
b) The test content includes 3 parts, with the following time frames:
Part I: General knowledge, 60 questions about the understanding of public employee law, guidelines, policies, and laws regarding the recruiting industry and field. Test duration is 60 minutes;
Part II: Foreign language, 30 questions according to the job position requirements in one of five languages: English, Russian, French, German, Chinese, or another language decided by the head of the recruiting authority or unit. Test duration is 30 minutes;
Part III: Information technology, 30 questions according to job position requirements. Test duration is 30 minutes.

Thus, for Round 1 of the public employee recruitment exam, if conducted on a computer, the multiple-choice test content does not include the IT test (i.e., no need to take the IT test). In case of conducting the test on paper, there will be an IT test with a multiple-choice format of 30 questions according to the job position requirements.
Additionally, the IT test is exempted for individuals holding a diploma from intermediate level or higher in majors related to information technology, information technology.
