Vietnam: To increase measures to save water in agricultural production

Specifically, it is necessary to have solutions to proactively store, regulate, and distribute water sources, to meet the requirements of water use for people's living and socio-economic development in Vietnam.

- Restructure industries and production fields that use a lot of water;

Implement solutions to save water, reuse water, closely monitor and supervise the use of domestic and production water to reduce loss and waste; and increase measures to use water in agricultural production economically and efficiently.

Deploy technological solutions to purify sea water, supplement water sources for agricultural production in areas of water scarcity and saltwater intrusion.

- Invest in the construction of works to protect and control water sources; supply, store, and transfer water to ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas, islands, water-scarce areas, and heavily affected areas due to climate change in Vietnam.

Invest in and finish the irrigation system, ensure proactive fresh water storage, regulate and distribute water sources within the province, inter-provincial, inter-regional, and nationwide, and allocate water to economic regions, key areas, northern mountainous areas, central coastal areas, Central Highlands, and Mekong River Delta in Vietnam

Build and complete water supply and drainage works in rural and urban areas, with a focus on natural disaster-affected areas, ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas, and islands; implement small-scale water storage solutions for households to serve daily life and production in Vietnam;
