Amendments to costs of making, appraising and approving monument planning in Vietnam

On September 21, 2022, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 67/2022/ND-CP amending Article 4 of Decree 166/2018/ND-CP stipulating the competence, order and procedures for formulation, appraisal and approval of planning and projects on preservation, renovation and restoration of historical-cultural monuments and scenic spots.

According to Vietnam's Decree 67/2022/ND-CP, the cost of making, appraising, approving, announcing, adjusting, and evaluating the monument planning shall be used from recurrent expenditures in accordance with the law on state budget.

(Previously, in Vietnam's Decree 166/2018/ND-CP, the expenses for the preparation, appraisal, approval, announcement, adjustment, and evaluation of themonument planning shall comply with the provisions of Article 9 of Vietnam's Law on planning as follows:

Expenses for formulation, appraisal, decision or approval, announcement and adjustment of the plan shall be used from public investment capital in accordance with the law on public investment.

-Expenses for planning evaluation shall be used from regular funding sources in accordance with the law on state budget.

Note: The task of relic planning has been approved before September 21, 2022. The cost of making, appraising, approving, announcing, adjusting, and evaluating preservation planning, The renovation and restoration of monuments shall continue to comply with the provisions of Article 9 of Vietnam's Law on Planning.

Vietnam's Decree 67/2022/ND-CP takes effect from the date of signing.
