Recommendation to pay car registration tax through the Internet to prevent COVID-19 in Vietnam

According to the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam (Ministry of Finance), due to the 50% reduction in the car registration fee starting from December 1, the number of people coming to register to pay the registration fee increased dramatically at the collection points.

Facing this situation, the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam has just promulgated a notice recommending organizations and individuals to pay car registration tax through the Internet to ensure safety.

According to the General Department of Taxation, through the reflection of tax departments about the sudden increase of many people coming to register to pay registration fees, in order to reduce the time of procedures and ensure the prevention of the COVID-19 epidemic and to avoid congestion at tax offices, the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam has actively strengthened officials to support the reception of documents and carry out the registration and payment of automobile registration tax.

Meanwhile, the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam suggested that organizations and individuals can make an electronic payment of the registration fee after declaring the registration fee and receiving the notice of the payable registration fee amount by the file code on the notice or message of the tax authority via the National Public Service Portal, or through the payment channels Internet banking, Mobile banking of banks connected to the General Department of Taxation (Vietcombank, Vietinbank, Agribank, BIDV, TPBank, VPBank, MBBank).

Tax Departments of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can declare tax online. Taxpayers go to the website of the General Department of Taxation (Etax) or the National Public Service Portal to electronically declare the registration fee declaration.

After that, organizations and individuals go to the Traffic Police authority of Vietnam for guidance and check the fulfillment of financial obligations on registration through electronic data to pay the registration fee of cars and vehicles by the tax authority.
