Abandon the quick test at the airport: Passengers do not need to arrive too early to avoid congestion

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Transport) proposes to strengthen communication about the removal of the requirement for a quick test before boarding the aircraft, passengers do not need to arrive at the airport too early, but just go to the appropriate airport. with the flight time indicated on the ticket.

Many early arrivals made Tan Son Nhat Airport crowded at times.

Regarding the situation of waiting passengers, there was a time of local congestion in the area of ​​​​the terminal to Tan Son Nhat in recent days, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam has reported to the Ministry of Transport. 

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the phenomenon of passengers waiting in large numbers at the terminal to Tan Son Nhat because they have not been able to access information about the removal of the request for a quick test. This causes passengers to have a mentality that they have to arrive at the airport early before the flight because they are afraid of being late for the flight due to medical procedures.

Besides, on January 23 alone, up to 25 flights could not take off on time from Tan Son Nhat due to fog in Noi Bai.

In order to overcome the situation of crowded passengers at the airport, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam proposed to adjust some flights during peak hours in parallel with requesting airlines to switch to operating the night time frame.

This agency also suggested increasing communication about the removal of the requirement for a quick test before boarding the aircraft, passengers should not arrive at the airport too early, but only need to arrive at the airport according to the flight time indicated on the ticket.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport has directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to implement a series of solutions to prevent congestion at the airport during Tet.

Specifically, the Ministry of Transport issued Document No. 68 stipulating that passengers traveling on domestic flights do not have to undergo a quick test at the airport to reduce congestion. At the same time, the Ministry of Transport also requested to move the testing area of ​​Tam Anh Hospital outside the Tan Son Nhat domestic departure hall, leaving this space for passengers to queue.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has also been flexible in operating slots at airports. 

Regarding the increase of flights serving passengers during Tet, the Civil Aviation Administration said that in the period from January 17 to January 22 (from December 15 to December 20), the total number of domestic flights reached 6,400 trips (down 14.8% over the same period) and approximately 800,000 passengers, (down 13.2%).

According to the plan, from January 23 to February 16, the total number of seats will be 2.85 million seats and 13,400 flights.

After the Slot Council meeting, the Civil Aviation Authority decided to increase the flight and dispatch parameters. Total supply capacity reached 3.2 million seats and 15,300 flights. Thus, with the above supply load, passenger transportation during the Lunar New Year is basically met.
