Minimum wage in Vietnam from July 1, 2022

Government enacted Decree 38/2022/NĐ-CP stipulate the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts in Vietnam.

According to this Decree, the minimum wage in Vietnam from July 1, 2022 is stipulated as follows:

* Monthly minimum:

- Region I: VND 4,680,000/month.

- Region II: VND 4,160,000/month.

- Region III: VND 3,640,000/month.

- Region IV: VND 3,250,000/month.

The minimum monthly wage in Vietnam is the lowest salary as the basis for agreement and payment for employees applying the monthly payment method, ensuring that the wage according to the work or title of the employee working full time normally in the month and completing the labor norms or the agreed work must not be lower than the minimum monthly wage.

* Minimum hourly wage in Vietnam:

- Region I: VND 22,500/hour;

- Region II: 20,000 VND/hour;

- Region III: VND 17,500/hour;

- Region IV: 15,600 VND/hour.

The minimum hourly wage in Vietnam is the lowest wage as the basis for agreement and payment for employees applying the hourly payment method, ensuring that the salary according to the job or title of the employee working in an hour and completing the agreed labor norms or work must not be lower than the minimum hourly wage.

The list of areas in Region I, Region II, Region III and Region IV in Vietnam is specified in the Appendix issued together with Decree 38/2022/ND-CP.

Decree 38/2022/ND-CP takes effect from July 1, 2022 and replaces Decree 90/2019/ND-CP.
