List of diseases with long-term treatment covered by health insurance in Vietnam

Vietnam's Law on Social Insurance stipulates that employees are entitled to health insurance in case they are receiving sickness benefits due to diseases on the list of diseases requiring long-term treatment. The following is a list of diseases that require long-term treatment in Vietnam.

List of diseases with long-term treatment in Vietnam entitled to health insurance

The list of diseases requiring long-term treatment covered by health insurance in Vietnam is specified in Circular 46/2016/TT-BYT, including 332 diseases, specifically:

- Persistent amoeba infection (intestines and liver)

- Prolonged diarrhea

- Tuberculosis of all kinds in the treatment stage and sequelae

- Disease caused by atypical TB bacilli (NTM) (Bacteria are everywhere including skin, lymph nodes, lungs)

- Withmore's disease

- Brucellosis

- Severe tetanus and sequelae

- Leprosy (Hansen's disease) and its sequelae

- Sequelae due to tuberculosis of bones and joints

- Chronic hepatitis B virus

- Chronic hepatitis C virus

- Chronic hepatitis D virus

- Chronic hepatitis E

- Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV/AIDS) infection

- Sequelae of encephalitis, meningitis caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites

- Fungal meningitis (candida, cryptococcal)

- Fungal lung disease

- Cryptococcal fungal infection

- Penicillium marneffei infection

- Helicobacter pylori infection in the brain
