Do female employees in Vietnam get a day off on International Women's Day (March 8)?

Based on Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019 on the holiday schedule for employees:

Article 112. Holidays

1. Employees are entitled to full-paid days off on the following holidays:

a) New Year's Day: 01 day (January 1, Gregorian calendar);

b) Lunar New Year: 05 days;

c) Victory Day: 01 day (April 30, Gregorian calendar);

d) International Labor Day: 01 day (May 1, Gregorian calendar);

dd) National Day: 02 days (September 2, Gregorian calendar and 01 contiguous day before or after);

e) Hung Kings' Festival: 01 day (March 10, lunar calendar).

International Women's Day (March 8) is not a public holiday, so employees in general and female employees, in particular, will not have a day off with full pay.

However, in 2025, International Women's Day (March 8) will fall on a Saturday, so those female employees employed at companies in Vietnam that have weekends off on Saturdays will get a full-paid day off without needing to request permission.

For female employees who still work on Saturdays, they may use their annual leave as stipulated in clause 1 of Article 113 of the Labor Code 2019 to have a full-paid day off on that day.
