According to Decree 168 in Vietnam, what are penalties for speeding in 2025 for motorcycles, cars?

What are penalties for speeding in 2025 for motorcycles, cars according to Decree 168 in Vietnam?

According to Article 6 and Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, the penalties for speeding for motorcycles and automobiles starting in 2025 are stipulated as follows:

(1) Penalties for speeding violations for motorcycles

- Penalties for speeding from 05 km/h to less than 10 km/h for motorcycles: A fine ranging from 400,000 VND to 600,000 VND (point b, clause 2, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP);

- Penalties for speeding from 10 km/h to 20 km/h for motorcycles: A fine ranging from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND (point a, clause 4, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP);

Penalties for speeding over 20 km/h for motorcycles: A fine ranging from 6,000,000 VND to 8,000,000 VND; additionally, the violator will have 04 points deducted from their driver's license (point a, clause 8, point b, clause 13, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP).

Furthermore:

- If operating a group of 02 or more motorcycles exceeding the speed limit, the fine ranges from 8,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND (point b, clause 9, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP);

- If causing a traffic accident while speeding on a motorcycle, the fine ranges from 10,000,000 VND to 14,000,000 VND (point a, clause 10, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP).

(2) Penalties for speeding violations for automobiles

- Penalties for speeding from 05 km/h to less than 10 km/h for automobiles: A fine ranging from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND (point a, clause 3, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP);

- Penalties for speeding from 10 km/h to 20 km/h for automobiles: A fine ranging from 4,000,000 VND to 6,000,000 VND; additionally, the violator will have 02 points deducted from their driver's license (point đ, clause 5, point a, clause 16, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP);

- Penalties for speeding from over 20 km/h to 35 km/h for automobiles: A fine ranging from 6,000,000 VND to 8,000,000 VND; additionally, the violator will have 04 points deducted from their driver's license (point a, clause 6, point b, clause 16, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP);

- Penalties for speeding over 35 km/h for automobiles: A fine ranging from 12,000,000 VND to 14,000,000 VND; additionally, the violator will have 06 points deducted from their driver's license (point a, clause 7, point c, clause 16, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP);

Additionally, if a person operating an automobile at excessive speed causes a traffic accident, they will be fined from 20,000,000 VND to 22,000,000 VND and have 10 points deducted from their driver's license (point a, clause 10, point đ, clause 16, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP).

What are the principles ensuring traffic safety and order in Vietnam?

According to Article 3 of the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order 2024, the principles ensuring traffic safety and order include:

- Complying with the Constitution, Vietnamese laws, and international treaties to which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a signatory.

- Ensuring road traffic is orderly, safe, and unobstructed, contributing to socio-economic development, national defense, security, and environmental protection;

Preventing violations of road traffic safety and order laws, road traffic accidents, and traffic congestion;

Protecting life, health, and property of individuals and property of agencies, organizations.

- Ensuring traffic safety and order is the responsibility of agencies, organizations, and individuals.

- Road traffic participants must comply with the legal provisions on road traffic safety and order and other related legal regulations, taking responsibility for their safety and the safety of others.

- All acts of violating road traffic safety and order laws must be promptly detected, prevented, and strictly handled according to the law.

- Activities ensuring road traffic safety and order must be public, transparent, and convenient for the people.

- The work of ensuring road traffic safety and order is carried out uniformly based on assignment, decentralization, in accordance with the functions and tasks, and in close coordination among relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals.
