The Lunar New Year 2025 is a significant holiday in Vietnamese culture, and the fireworks display is one of the activities eagerly anticipated by many.

On December 23, 2024, the People's Committee of Hanoi issued a Plan for organizing the fireworks display for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025 in the capital city of Hanoi as follows:

(1) High-altitude fireworks combined with low-altitude fireworks (including 10 locations)

- Location No. 1: Hoan Kiem District (in front of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Office).

- Location No. 2: Hoan Kiem District (in front of Hanoi Post Office).

- Location No. 3: Tay Ho District (at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, in front of the district People's Committee gate).

- Location No. 4: Nam Tu Liem District (in the campus of the F1 racetrack, Phu Do Ward).

- Location No. 5: Hai Ba Trung District (Coconut Island, Thong Nhat Park, Le Dai Hanh Ward).

- Location No. 6: Ha Dong District (Van Quan Lake, Van Quan Ward).

- Location No. 7: Son Tay Town (Sơn Tây Ancient Citadel).

- Location No. 8: Thanh Tri District (Project land of the Regulating Lake, Tam Hiep Commune).

- Location No. 9: Dong Anh District (Dong Anh Sports Center).

- Location No. 10: Bac Tu Liem District (Hoa Binh Park, Xuan Dinh Ward).

(2) Low-altitude fireworks (including 21 locations)

- Location No. 11: Ba Dinh District (at Southeast Ngoc Khanh Lake, Ngoc Khanh Ward).

- Location No. 12: Hoang Mai District (at Den Lu Lake Park, Hoang Van Thu Ward).

- Location No. 13: Long Bien District (Park 02, Viet Hung Ward).

- Location No. 14: Dong Da District (at Xa Dan Lake, Nam Dong Ward).

- Location No. 15: Cau Giay District (at Cau Giay Park, Dich Vong Ward).

- Location No. 16: Thanh Xuan District (at Thanh Xuan Park, Nhan Chinh Ward).

- Location No. 17: Gia Lam District (No. 1 Thuan An, Trau Quy Town).

- Location No. 18: Me Linh District (Fifth-floor rooftop of the district People's Committee hall).

- Location No. 19: Ba Vi District (at Quang Oai Stadium, Tay Dang Town).

- Location No. 20: Dan Phuong District (at Stand B, District Stadium, Phung Town).

- Location No. 21: Thach That District (at District Stadium, Lien Quan Town).

- Location No. 22: Chuong My District (at District Stadium, Chuc Son Town).

- Location No. 23: Thuong Tin District (at Thuong Tin District Stadium).

- Location No. 24: Quoc Oai District (on the roof of a 6-floor District Military Command building).

- Location No. 25: Phu Xuyen District (at Thao Chinh Hamlet, Phu Xuyen Town).

- Location No. 26: My Duc District (at Ecological Lake Park, Dai Nghia Town).

- Location No. 27: Ung Hoa District (at District Stadium, Van Dinh Town).

- Location No. 28: Soc Son District (at District Stadium, Soc Son Town).

- Location No. 29: Phuc Tho District (at District Stadium, Phuc Tho Town).

- Location No. 30: Thanh Oai District (at the Green Park, Kim Bai Town).

- Location No. 31: Hoai Duc District (at Mailand Hanoi City Urban Zone, An Khanh Commune, Hoai Duc District).

For high-altitude fireworks, there will be a total of 6,000 fireworks; each location will have 600 fireworks. For low-altitude fireworks, there will be a total of 3,420 launchers, each location with 120 launchers, 10 high-altitude locations each with 90 launchers.

Thus, Hanoi will organize a total of 30 fireworks locations with 31 locations (of which, 10 locations for high-altitude combined with low-altitude fireworks and 21 locations for low-altitude fireworks).

What is the duration of firework displays for the Lunar New Year in 2025?

According to the provisions of Article 11 of Decree 137/2020/ND-CP regarding instances of organizing fireworks:

Article 11. Instances of Organizing Fireworks

1. Lunar New Year

a) Central-affiliated cities and Thua Thien Hue Province are allowed to set off high and low-altitude fireworks, not exceeding 15 minutes in duration; other provinces may only set off low-altitude fireworks, also not exceeding 15 minutes;

b) Fireworks will take place at midnight of the Lunar New Year.

2. Hung Kings' Commemoration

a) Phu Tho Province is allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks, not exceeding 15 minutes, at the Hung Temple area;

b) Fireworks will take place at 9:00 PM on March 9 of the lunar calendar.

3. National Day

a) Central-affiliated cities and Thua Thien Hue Province are allowed to set off high and low-altitude fireworks, not exceeding 15 minutes in duration; other provinces may only set off low-altitude fireworks, also not exceeding 15 minutes;

b) Fireworks will take place at 9:00 PM on September 2.

4. Dien Bien Phu Victory Day

a) Dien Bien Province is allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks, not exceeding 15 minutes, at Dien Bien Phu City;

b) Fireworks will take place at 9:00 PM on May 7.

Thus, the duration of the fireworks display for the Lunar New Year 2025 is regulated not to exceed 15 minutes. Central-affiliated cities and Thua Thien Hue Province are allowed to set off high and low-altitude fireworks, while other provinces are only allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks. The fireworks will take place at midnight of the Lunar New Year pursuant to the regulation.
