2. Criteria for university direct admission in Vietnam in 2024

According to the provisions in Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on direct admission to universities are as follows:

- Labor heroes, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and national exemplary soldiers are directly admitted to majors or programs as prescribed by the training institutions.

- Candidates who achieve high performance in national or international examinations, competitions, or championships organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, are eligible for direct admission in the year of completing high school (or intermediate level) to suitable majors based on the subject of the examination, topic, or professional field of competition and winning awards. Specifically, in the following cases:

+ Candidates who win first, second, or third prize in the national or international excellent student competitions or national or international science and technology competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Training; the time of winning the prize should not exceed 3 years until the time of direct admission.

+ Candidates who receive official awards in international art competitions in singing, dancing, music, and fine arts recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; the time of winning the award should not exceed 4 years until the time of direct admission.

+ Candidates who participate in the national team in official international competitions confirmed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, including World Championships, World Cups, Olympic Games, Asian Games (ASIAD), Asian Championships, Asian Cups, Southeast Asian Championships, Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), and Southeast Asian Cup; the time of winning the prize should not exceed 4 years until the time of direct admission.

+ Candidates who win first, second, or third prize in ASEAN vocational competitions and international vocational competitions organized by the Ministry of Labor - Invalids, and Social Affairs; the time of winning the prize should not exceed 3 years until the time of direct admission.

- Candidates who have an excellent or above-average intermediate level diploma in pedagogy or have an above-average intermediate level diploma in pedagogy and have at least 02 years of work experience in the relevant field are eligible for direct admission to the higher education level of Early Childhood Education.

- Principals, directors of training institutions review the high school academic results of the candidates and the requirements of the training field to consider and decide to admit those who meet the following conditions (in necessary cases, the candidate must study for an additional year to supplement knowledge before formal admission):

+ Candidates with severe disabilities with a certificate of disability issued by a competent authority according to regulations, who have the ability to study some majors as prescribed by the training institutions but cannot participate in the normal admission method.

+ Candidates from ethnic minority groups, as determined by the current regulations of the Government, and candidates from 20 poor border and island districts in the Southwest region.

+ Candidates who have been residing for 3 years or more, studying for 3 years, and graduating from high school in poor districts (boarding ethnic minority students are considered based on their place of residence) as regulated by the Government, the Prime Minister.

+ Foreign candidates who meet the requirements for Vietnamese language knowledge and proficiency as stipulated by the Minister of Education and Training.
