Hello, Lawnet would like to provide the following clarification:
Whether citizens will be enlisted before or after the Lunar New Year in 2024 is a matter of interest for many as it directly affects the Lunar New Year holiday plans of those about to be enlisted.
On November 6, 2023, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 4267/BQP-TM regarding the selection and call for enlistment in 2024 as follows:
In implementation of the Military Service Law 2015; Decision No. 82/QD-TTg dated October 4, 2023 by the Prime Minister on calling for enlistment in 2024; accordingly, in 2024, there will be one round of selection and enlistment; the time for handing over and receiving troops will be within 3 days, from February 25 to the end of February 27, 2024 (from the 16th to the end of the 18th day of the first month of Gia Thin year in the lunar calendar).
Therefore, in 2024, there will be one round of selection and enlistment, and the time for handing over and receiving troops will be within 3 days, from February 25, 2024, to the end of February 27, 2024.
Thus, citizens will celebrate Lunar New Year until February 25, 2024, after which they will be enlisted according to the schedule of their units, localities, and legal regulations.
The postponement and exemption from enlistment during peacetime are implemented according to Article 41 of the Military Service Law 2015:
- Enlistment postponement applies to the following citizens:
+ Those who do not meet health standards for active military service as concluded by the Health Examination Council.
+ The sole laborer directly supporting family members who are incapable of working or are underage; families suffering severe loss of life and property due to accidents, natural disasters, or dangerous diseases, confirmed by the commune-level People's Committee.
+ One child of a war invalid or a person affected by Agent Orange with a labor capacity reduction from 61% to 80%.
+ Those who have siblings serving as non-commissioned officers or soldiers on active military duty; non-commissioned officers, or soldiers performing duty in the People's Police.
+ Individuals relocating or resettling within the first 3 years to particularly disadvantaged communes under the State's socioeconomic development project, as decided by the provincial People's Committee or higher.
+ Officials and public employees, youth volunteers assigned to work in areas with particularly difficult socioeconomic conditions as prescribed by law.
+ Students studying at general education institutions; those undergoing regular undergraduate training at higher education institutions, or regular college training at vocational education institutions during one training course of a given education level.
- Enlistment exemption applies to the following citizens:
+ Children of martyrs or first-class war invalids.
+ One sibling of a martyr.
+ One child of a second-class war invalid, one child of a sick soldier with a labor capacity reduction of 81% or more, one child of a person affected by Agent Orange with a labor capacity reduction of 81% or more.
+ Non-military personnel working in cipher positions, People's Police.
+ Officials and public employees, youth volunteers assigned to work in areas with particularly difficult socioeconomic conditions as prescribed by law for 24 months or more.
(Based on Article 5 of Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP)
Thus, citizens eligible for enlistment postponement include those unfit for duty, the sole laborer supporting a family, students, those working in difficult areas, and those with siblings on active duty. Enlistment exemptions apply to individuals such as children of martyrs, war invalids, those in cipher positions, and individuals working in difficult areas for over 24 months, among the specified cases above.
Sincerely!
