Currently, there are 03 methods to replace the paper health insurance card for medical visits and treatments, including:

+ Using a chip-mounted Citizen Identity Card;

+ Using a level-2 VNeID account;

+ Using the VssID application.

Method 1: Citizens present their chip-mounted Citizen Identity Cards at the medical facility. When the QR code is scanned to retrieve valid health insurance participation information, the medical facility checks and compares the health insurance information and welcomes patients according to the current health insurance procedures.

Method 2: Citizens can use the health insurance card that has been authenticated on the VNeID application (a level-2 VNeID account) by opening the VNeID settings on their mobile phones and logging into their VNeID account.

Then select the "Document Wallet" section, choose "Health Insurance Card"; enter the code to verify the user and present the health insurance card image on the VNeID application to the medical staff.

Method 3: Citizens can also use the VssID application on their mobile phones to replace the paper health insurance card when visiting medical facilities.

After a successful login, on the main interface of the VssID application, citizens need to select the "Personal Management" section, then choose the "Health Insurance Card" section, and after that choose "Use Card" or "Card Image".

2. Benefits of using VssID health insurance card for nedical visits in Vietnam

From June 1, 2021, Vietnam Social Security issued Official Dispatch 1493/BHXH-CSYT on initiating the implementation of the health insurance card on VssID application. When using this card for medical visits and treatments at healthcare facilities, you will:

Not need to carry the physical card, confirmation documents, or remember the insurance booklet number for hospital transfers, thus sparing users from the worry of losing or forgetting the health insurance card.

Check the validity period of the health insurance card, participation process, benefit information, and medical visit records at healthcare facilities.

Enhance security and safety in usage, ensuring and limiting the misuse or exploitation of the health insurance card.

Reduce the time required for medical visit procedures for both participants and healthcare facilities, as the QR code helps clarify information on the health insurance card.

Access functions such as searching for social insurance numbers, insurance agencies, social insurance participant units, and finding collection points and collection agents directly on the phone.
