- An extract from the judgment: “At 15:00 on September 20, 2016 Mr. M passed by Mrs. Nguyen Thi D's house when a dog ran out from Mrs. D's house and bit him in the leg, bleeding a lot. Mr. M shouted and Mrs.’D son ran out from the house and also saw clearly. After that, this incident was informed to the police and people around, but Mrs. D did not come to visit and did not bear the cost of vaccinations. He was vaccinated 4 times, all cost of vaccines is VND 520.000, now he has been fully vaccinated, ferry taxi, drinking water total is VND 316.000. The total cost is VND 836.000, the loss of income from September 21, 2016 to October 19, 2016 is 29 days, each day is VND 150.000 x 29 days = VND 4.350.000, he was not hospitalized but treated at home because he was bitten by a dog, so he couldn't go to work. He withdrew his claim for 25-day loss of income of VND 3.750.000, only requesting 04 days for VND 600.000.”

2. Judgment No. 239/2022/DS-ST on dispute over compensation for health damage and mental loss caused by livestock

- An extract from the judgment: “On the afternoon of August 04, 2020, Mrs. Ha Thi D while exercising in the internal road area in the residential area of Him Lam NSG, was bitten by Ms. Huynh Thi Tuyet N's dog on her right thigh and she was bleeding. Fearing that she would be infected with rabies and lose her life, Ms. D had to quit her job and rent a car to the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City to get the rabies vaccine. Due to the side effects of the rabies vaccine along with psychological shock, Ms. D's whole body ached, nauseated, dizzy, etc. Therefore, the actual damage that occurred included: travel expenses, the cost of vaccination, the cost of health rehabilitation and mental loss for Mrs. D.”

3. Judgment No. 108/2017/DS-PT dated November 22, 2017 on dispute over compensation for health damages due to compromised health

- An extract from the judgment: “On the afternoon of June 09, 2017, Mrs. L asked a cadastral officer to measure the land to separate a part of the land for her daughter. So she went to Mr. L1's house to sign the minutes of land contiguity between the two households, but was bitten on the leg by Mr. L1's dog. Immediately after Mrs. L was bitten by the dog, Mr. L1 took her to the District X Medical Center to sew the wound and inject drugs for treatment. Ms. L then asked Mr. L1 to pay back travel and medical expenses, but Mr. L1 did not agree. Now, she asks the Court to force Mr. L1 to pay her a total amount of VND 2.329.000, including medical bills and travel expenses.”

4. Judgment No. 02/2020/DS-ST dated January 10, 2020 on dispute over compensation for health damages due to compromised health

- Trial agency: People's Court of Tien Phuoc District, Quang Nam Province

- An extract from the judgment: “On the afternoon of September 30, 2019, Mr. S went to the Medical Center of District T, when he reached the nearby road, there were 04 dogs (01 big dog and 03 medium dogs) from Ms. T's house, Mr. D barked and ran out; the big dog bit his left leg causing injury. Mr. D bandaged the wound. Mr. S confirmed that the dog that bit him and caused the injury was Mrs. T and Mr. D's dog. Therefore, he asked the People's Court of District T to settle and force Ms. T and Mr. D to pay compensation for damage due to health violated for him with a total amount of VND 2.545.040; including the following: salary for not being able to work for 5 days (from September 30, 2019 to October 04, 2019): VND 1.250.000; mental loss: VND 200.000; tip: VND 200.000; food for 5 days: VND 150.000; medicine fee: VND 754.040.”
