On December 24, 2024, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 24/2024/TT-BGDDT regarding the Regulation on the High School Graduation Examination.
In Appendix I of the Regulation on the High School Graduation Examination issued with Circular 24/2024/TT-BGDDT (hereinafter called the Exam Regulation), the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam has listed English certificates that will be exempt from the foreign language test in the high school graduation exam from 2025, including:
Previously, in the high school graduation exam of 2024, the list of English certificates exempted from the foreign language test was stipulated in Appendix I of Circular 02/2024/TT-BGDDT, as follows:
Thus, compared to previous high school graduation exams, starting from the 2025 exam, candidates with the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) certificate with 43 points issued by Pearson will be exempt from the foreign language exam.
However, the PTE Academic certificate will not be converted to a score of 10 in the graduation recognition scoring calculus as before (Clause 2 Article 39 of the Regulation on the High School Graduation Examination issued with Circular 24/2024/TT-BGDDT).
Article 3 of the Exam Regulation stipulates the organization of the exam as follows:
The 2025 high school graduation exam will have 03 exam sessions, including: 01 session for Literature, 01 session for Mathematics, and 01 session for two elective subjects among the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Industrial Technology, Agricultural Technology (hereafter called Agricultural Technology), Foreign Languages (English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean).
Previously, according to Article 3 of the Regulation on the High School Graduation Examination 2024 issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT (amended by Circular 02/2024/TT-BGDDT), the 2024 high school graduation exam was organized as follows:
Article 3. Exam Subjects
Five (5) test subjects will be organized: three (3) independent tests in Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Languages (English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean); one (1) combined test in Natural Sciences (abbreviated as NS) consisting of component subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology; and one (1) combined test in Social Sciences (abbreviated as SS) consisting of component subjects: History, Geography, Civic Education for regular high school education program candidates, or component subjects History, Geography for continuing education program candidates.
Thus, in the 2025 high school graduation exam, candidates will sit for 04 subjects in 03 exam sessions, instead of 06 subjects in 04 sessions as before.
Simultaneously, the 2025 high school graduation exam has also introduced Informatics and Technology (Industrial, Agricultural) as graduation exam subjects.
