What are regulations on conducts of teachers in the educational environment in Vietnam?
Based on Article 6 of the Code of Conduct in preschool, general education, and regular education institutions issued with Circular 06/2019/TT-BGDDT, the conducts of upper secondary school teachers are as follows:
- Interaction with students: Use standard, easy-to-understand language, and give praise or criticism appropriate to the subject and situation; be exemplary, forgiving, responsible, and loving; respect differences, treat students fairly, provide counseling, listen, and encourage learners; actively prevent and combat school violence, and build a safe, healthy, and friendly educational environment. Do not insult, cause harm, exploit; do not scapegoat, be biased, abuse, or harm; do not ignore, avoid or conceal students' violations.
- Interaction with management staff: Use respectful, honest language, be open to suggestions, communicate clearly, comply with leadership directives, management, and assignments according to regulations. Do not insult or cause disunity; do not ignore, avoid, or conceal management staff's violations.
- Interaction with colleagues and staff: Use proper, honest, friendly, and open language, share, support; respect differences; protect colleagues' and staff's honor, dignity, and reputation. Do not insult, be indifferent, or cause disunity.
- Interaction with students' parents: Use appropriate, honest, respectful, friendly, and cooperative language. Do not insult, impose, or exploit.
- Interaction with visitors to educational institutions: Use proper, respectful language. Do not insult or cause inconvenience or annoyance.
What are prohibited teacher conduct in Vietnam?
According to Clause 1, Article 31 of the regulations on lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and multi-level schools issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, upper secondary school teachers are prohibited from:
- Behaviors that insult the honor and dignity; bodily harm to students and colleagues.
- Fraudulent behaviors: cheating in checks, exams, entrance exams; fraud in assessing students' academic and training results; skipping classes, arbitrarily cutting curricular contents.
- Distorting teaching content; teaching incorrect content against the educational viewpoints and policies of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State of Vietnam.
- Forcing students to do extra classes for a fee; exploiting sponsorship and support for education to coerce monetary or material contributions.
- Smoking, drinking alcohol, or using other stimulants during teaching and educational activities.
- Obstructing, complicating the support, service for teaching, educating students, and other activities.
