What are the age regulations for primary school students in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 33 of the Primary School Charter issued together with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, the age regulations for primary school students are as follows:
- The age for students entering grade one is 06 years old, calculated according to the year. Children with disabilities, children slow in physical or mental development, children in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, children from ethnic minorities, orphans without caregivers, children returning from abroad, children of foreign nationals studying and working in Vietnam can enter grade one at an older age than regulated but not exceeding 03 years. Cases where children enter grade one exceeding the stipulated age by more than 03 years will be decided by the Head of the Education and Training Department.
- Primary school students may study at an older age than the stipulated age in case of repeaters, students in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, students from ethnic minorities, students with disabilities, students slow in physical or mental development, orphans without caregivers, students returning from abroad, and other cases as per legal provisions.

According to Section 9 of the General Education Program issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, general competencies of primary school students are as follows:
