How many weeks of study will the first semester in Vietnam have?
Based on Article 2 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT of 2024:
Principles for building the academic year schedule for localities
1. The academic year schedule for localities must ensure a total of 35 weeks of actual study (18 weeks for the first semester, 17 weeks for the second semester).
2. The academic year schedule must be suitable for the characteristics and practical conditions of the locality.
3. Public holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year) breaks are implemented according to the Labor Code and annual guiding documents.
4. Teachers' annual leave is implemented during the summer break or can be arranged at different times during the year to suit specific characteristics and the academic year schedule of the locality.
5. The academic year schedule needs to ensure synchronization among educational levels within a residential area, particularly in schools offering multiple educational levels.
Therefore, according to the regulation, the 2024-2025 academic year lasts 35 weeks. Among these, actual study weeks are divided into 18 weeks for the first semester and 17 weeks for the second semester.
However, the academic year schedule must be suitable for the characteristics and practical conditions of each locality.
