When is the university admission day in school year 2024-2025 in Vietnam?

Recently, according to the provision in Decision 1139/QD-BGDDT 2024 on the Plan for Implementation of University Admission, College Admission in Early Childhood Education in 2024, there are 2 important milestones in August 2024:

MILESTONE 1: Announcement of the results of the first round of accepted candidates:

No later than 17:00 on August 19, 2024.

MILESTONE 2: Deadline for online confirmation of enrollment in the first round on the System: No later than 17:00 on August 27, 2024.

Concurrently, in sub-item 8, Section I of Official Dispatch 1957/BGDDT-GDDH 2024 guiding enrollment confirmation is as follows:

I. For candidates

8. Enrollment confirmation:- For candidates who are directly admitted, from July 22, 2024 to 17:00 on July 31, 2024, candidates can confirm enrollment on the System (those who have confirmed enrollment will not be allowed to apply for other priorities except for cases where the head of the institution allows not to enroll). In case of indecision on enrollment, candidates can continue to register for other priorities on the System or the national public service portal like other candidates for the institution's selection, if admitted, candidates will confirm enrollment according to the general schedule;

- No later than 17:00 on August 27, 2024, all successful candidates should complete the online enrollment confirmation in the first round on the System.

9. From August 28, 2024, to December 2024, candidates wishing to apply for supplementary admissions of the institutions should follow the DAITS posted on the institution's admission information page (if the institution accepts supplementary examination). Candidates who have been accepted and confirmed enrollment are not allowed to apply for supplementary admission, unless permitted otherwise by the institution’s head.

10. Candidates should submit the necessary documents to the institution (following the instructions on time and place by the institution). Candidates applying for courses requiring talent exams and using talent exam scores from other institutions must contact the respective institution for exam registration, participation, or submission of scores.

As candidates are informed about their acceptance in the first admission round: No later than 17:00 on August 19, 2024.

At the same time, successful university candidates confirm their online enrollment in the first round on the System: No later than 17:00 on August 27, 2024.

Therefore, the university enrollment period for 2024-2025 is expected to take place after August 27, 2024.

What are procedures for university admission in the upcoming academic year in Vietnam?

Based on Article 21 of the university admission regulations and college admission regulations in Early Childhood Education issued along with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the university enrollment procedures are stipulated as follows:

Step 1: The training institution sends an admission acceptance letter to the successful candidates, clearly stating the necessary procedures for enrollment and the method of enrollment.

Step 2: Candidates confirm enrollment online on the system before registering at the training institution.

Step 3: For candidates who do not confirm enrollment within the specified time:

+ If without a valid reason, it will be considered as a decline of enrollment, and the institution has the right not to accept them;+ If due to illness or accident, with certification from a district hospital or higher, or natural disaster with confirmation from the district-level People's Committee, the training institution will decide whether to accept the candidate or reserve their enrollment results for later;+ If due to errors or mistakes by the admission staff or the candidate themselves, the training institution should collaborate with relevant individuals and organizations to review the evidence and decide whether to accept the candidate or reserve their enrollment results for later.

Step 4: Candidates who have confirmed enrollment at one institution are not allowed to participate in the admission selection at another institution or in supplementary rounds, except when permitted by the training institution.

Rights of College Students Returning to the Educational Environment in the New Academic Year in Vietnam

After enrollment, students will resume their regular studies, which means they will have the following rights once they start studying at the institution: (As per Article 4 of Circular 17/2017/TT-BLDTBXH)

[1] Enroll in the selected major if they meet the acceptance conditions as specified by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and the school's regulations. Be considered for, and admitted to, the dormitory according to the institution’s actual conditions.

[2] Be informed about the policies of the State towards students participating in vocational education programs.

[3] Participate in two simultaneous programs, transfer institutions, register for overseas study programs, pursue higher-level training as regulated by law; have summer, holiday, and festive breaks according to regulations.

[4] Engage in activities in the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Student Association, and self-managed organizations, and participate in social activities related to students inside and outside the institution as permitted by law.

[5] Participate in scientific research, skill competitions, cultural events, music performances, athletic contests, and other talent, creativity, and technical competitions aligning with the institution’s training goals.

[6] Participate in labor and work activities according to the law during internships at enterprises within the program's framework and the agreements between the institution and the enterprise.

[7] Give feedback on training activities and conditions ensuring vocational education quality within the institution; directly or through legal representatives, propose solutions to build and develop the institution; raise concerns and complaints to the Principal to resolve matters related to the rights and legal benefits of students.

[8] Receive graduation certificates, transcripts, and other relevant documents; have administrative procedures processed when meeting graduation recognition conditions.

[9] Receive healthcare during the study period as regulated.

[10] Enjoy other rights as stipulated by law and the institution.
