When Does the Filtering of University Applications for 2024 in Vietnam End?

Based on Appendix 7, Organization of Admission and Processing Application on the System issued with Official Dispatch 1957/BGDDT-GDDH in 2024, the timeline for the results of filtering of university admission application is stipulated as follows:

Accordingly, from August 14 to August 17, 2024, there will be six rounds of filtering for university admission application.

Thus, in accordance with the regulations above, the filtering of university admission application for 2024 will conclude after August 17, 2024.

What are regulations on filtering of university application in Vietnam?

Currently, the law does not explicitly define what virtual filtering of university admission application is. However, according to Clause 4, Article 2 of the University Admission Regulations, and Preschool Teacher Training Admission Regulations issued with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT:

From this, filtering of university admission application for 2024 is a system-based process aimed at determining the highest application among the application for which the candidate is admitted, thereby establishing the list of admitted candidates.

Will the Confirmation of Admission in Vietnam Be Completed by the Afternoon of August 27?

Based on Section 1 of Official Dispatch 1957/BGDDT-GDDH in 2024, the regulations on admission confirmation are as follows:

- For candidates admitted through the straight admission method, from July 22, 2024, to 5:00 PM on July 31, 2024, candidates can confirm their admission on the System (candidates who have confirmed admission will not be allowed to continue registering for admission application unless authorized by the head of the institution). In cases where they have not confirmed admission, candidates can continue to register their admission application on the System or the National Public Service Portal like other candidates for institutions to consider for admission, if admitted, candidates will confirm their admission according to the joint schedule;

- No later than 5:00 PM on August 27, 2024, all admitted candidates must complete the first-round online admission confirmation on the System.

Thus, the confirmation of admission for the first round on the Ministry of Education and Training's System will conclude at the latest by the afternoon of August 27 (5:00 PM on August 27, 2024).

How shall the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam Support Universities Technically in Filtering application?

Based on Section 3 of Official Dispatch 1957/BGDDT-GDDH in 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training provides technical support for universities in filtering application as follows:

- Admission information on the Admission Portal, candidate application statistics, high school graduation exam scores, high school academic results, competency assessment scores, and testimonies of the candidate's priority areas and selection software (institutions must update to the latest version of the selection software)... to help institutions conduct admissions smoothly;

However, institutions need to note: The application processing system only filters out candidates who have been admitted to lower application at other institutions from the list of projected admits that institutions upload to the System, and does not have the function of adjusting criteria or scores determined by institutions; The system does not make admission decisions on behalf of institutions;

- Institutions will receive full priority information of candidates after they register their application on the system.

Institutions that organize early admissions without using data on the System must bear full responsibility for the information to consider for subjects, and priority area, and must not impose demands that cause inconvenience to candidates such as requiring the submission of or presenting household registration books or certificates of residence information when carrying out administrative procedures (as per Government regulations...);

- Institutions must strictly comply with and uniformly implement the regulations on the list of admitted candidates.

The official list of admitted candidates is the list of candidates that the application processing system sends back to the institution (based on the list of projected admits uploaded by the institution to the system) after the final application processing on August 17, 2024.

Institutions must not adjust this official list of admitted candidates.
