Based on the time frame schedule for the 2024-2025 academic year specified in Article 1 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT in 2024:

Issuing the time frame schedule for the 2024-2025 academic year applicable nationwide for preschool, general education, and continuous education as follows:

  1. The earliest back to school day is 1 week before the school opening day. For grade 1, the earliest back to school day is 2 weeks before the school opening day.
  1. The opening ceremony will be held on September 5, 2024.
  1. The first semester ends before January 18, 2025, and the academic year ends before May 31, 2025.
  1. Primary program completion recognition and middle school graduation consideration will be before June 30, 2025.
  1. Completing the enrollment for entry-level grades before July 31, 2025.
  1. The upper secondary school graduation exam for 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.
  1. Other national exams will be organized according to the regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Thus, students of all grades will have their earliest back to school day 1 week before the opening ceremony on September 5, 2024. For grade 1 students, it will be 2 weeks earlier.

Additionally, the 2024-2025 academic year will end before May 31, 2025.

What is the age of students in the 2024-2025 academic year in Vietnam?

According to Article 28 of the Education Law 2019, the levels and ages for general education are regulated as follows:

Levels and ages of general education

  1. The levels and ages for general education are regulated as follows:

a) Primary education lasts for 5 years, from grade one to grade five. Students entering grade one are 6 years old, calculated by year;

b) Lower secondary education lasts for 4 years, from grade six to grade nine. Students entering grade six must have completed primary education. Students entering grade six are 11 years old, calculated by year;

c) Upper secondary school education lasts for 3 years, from grade ten to grade twelve. Students entering grade ten must have a middle school graduation certificate. Students entering grade ten are 15 years old, calculated by year.

  1. Cases where students can advance or fall behind the usual enrolled ages mentioned in Clause 1 of this Article include:

a) Students can advance grades in case of early intellectual development;

b) Students can fall behind usual enrolled ages due to repeating grades, living in areas with special socio-economic difficulties, being ethnic minorities, disabled, intellectually or physically underdeveloped, orphans without support, poor household children, repatriated students, and other cases according to the law.

What behaviors are students in Vietnam prohibited from doing in the 2024-2025 academic year?

For primary school students

According to Article 37 of the primary school charter issued in conjunction with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, primary school students are prohibited from the following behaviors:

- Causing disorder that affects the activities of the class, school, and public places.

- Posing a danger to themselves and others during recreational activities.

For secondary school students

According to Article 37 of the charter of secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and multi-level general schools issued in conjunction with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, secondary students are prohibited from the following behaviors:

- Insulting the dignity, honor, and infringing the physical integrity of teachers, staff, school employees, others, and other students.

- Cheating in learning, testing, exams, and admissions.

- Buying, selling, using alcohol, beer, cigarettes, drugs, other stimulants, and fireworks, or flammable and explosive substances.

- Using mobile phones and other devices during classes not for learning purposes and without teacher permission.

- Fighting, causing disorder, security issues in school and public places.

- Using, exchanging culturally violent or pornographic content; using toys or playing harmful games for their healthy development.

- Students must not commit other acts prohibited by law.
