By which means do universities in Vietnam send admission notices to students?
Pursuant to Decision 1139/QD-BGDDT 2024:
- From August 13 to 5:00 PM on August 17, 2024, the training institutions will conduct university admission assessment and process aspirations on the System to determine accepted aspirations (the highest aspiration among those for which the candidate meets the admission criteria, if any).
- No later than 5:00 PM on August 19, 2024, the training institutions will notify the candidates who have been accepted in the first round.
- No later than 5:00 PM on August 27, 2024, candidates must confirm their online admission for the first round on the System according to regulations.
At present, there are no regulations specifying the exact time period for universities to send admission notifications to candidates. Based on the above-mentioned deadlines, the training institutions will notify the candidates accepted in the first round. From this point on, universities may send admission notifications to the candidates' addresses/emails depending on the training schedules of each school.

How shall universities in Vietnam organize registration and assessment for additional admissions?
According to Article 22 of the University Admission Regulations, admission to Preschool Education colleges issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the organization and assessment for additional admissions are specifically regulated as follows:
- Based on the admission quotas and the number of candidates who have confirmed their admission into sectors, training programs, the admissions council of the training institution will consider and decide on additional admissions.
The training institution will announce the assessment plan, assessment methods, and registration methods for additional admissions; admission conditions for sectors and training programs by different assessment methods but not lower than the conditions for the previous admission round.
- Candidates who have not been accepted or have been accepted but have not confirmed their admission anywhere can register for additional admissions as planned and instructed by the training institution.
- At the end of each assessment round, the training institution will announce on its website the admission scores (and any additional conditions or criteria if applicable) for sectors and training programs by different admission methods; organize for candidates to look up their individual assessment results; send admission notices and guidance to accepted candidates.
What are the basic principles in university admissions in Vietnam?
According to Article 4 of the University Admission Regulations, Admission to Preschool Education colleges issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the basic principles in university admissions are as follows:
- Fairness to candidates
+ Regarding information provision: Each candidate of interest shall be provided with full, clear, reliable, consistent, and prompt information to make appropriate decisions and best prepare for the admissions process;
+ Regarding the opportunity to apply: No candidate shall lose the opportunity to apply due to regulations unrelated to qualifications or abilities (except for specific regulations by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense in national defense and security fields); or due to burdensome and costly admission procedures;
+ Regarding ability assessment: Candidates shall be objectively, fairly, and reliably assessed on their academic capabilities and potential for success, meeting the requirements of the program and training sector;
+ Regarding the chance of acceptance: Candidates shall be given the highest chance of acceptance and the right to prioritize their aspirations among qualified programs and training sectors;
+ Regarding commitment execution: Training institutions shall fulfill their commitments to candidates; provide counseling, support, and resolve complaints to protect the legitimate rights of candidates in case of risks.
- Equality among training institutions
+ Regarding cooperation: Training institutions shall cooperate equally to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the admissions process, and simultaneously bring the best interests to candidates;
+ Regarding competition: Training institutions shall compete honestly, fairly, and healthily in admissions according to legal regulations on competition.
- Transparency to society
+ Regarding information transparency: Training institutions have the responsibility to announce full, clear, and prompt admissions information through appropriate media for social and state management agency supervision;
+ Regarding accountability: Training institutions are responsible for reporting as required by state management agencies and publicly explaining to society in appropriate forms about major issues causing public concern.
