Are teachers entitled to a day off on Vietnamese Teachers' Day - November 20?
According to Article 13 of the Law on Public Employees 2010 stipulating the rights of public employees regarding rest as follows:
Rights of public employees to rest
1. To take annual leaves, holidays and leaves for personal reasons under the labor law. Public employees who do not use any or all of prescribed annual leave days due to work requirements are entitled to a sum of money for those days on which they work.
2. Public employees working in mountainous, border, island, deep-lying and remote areas and in other special cases may take leave days of 2 years at a time if they so wish. If wishing to take leave days of 3 years at a time, they shall obtain consent of the heads of their public service providers.

1. Employees shall be entitled to fully paid days off on the following public holidays:

Article 9 of Decree 111/2018/ND-CP stipulates the organization of the anniversary of establishment, and traditional days as follows:
Organization of the anniversary of establishment, traditional days
1. Decennial anniversary
a) Ministries, sectors, and provincial-level organize activities to commemorate the anniversary of their establishment or traditional day; these activities include a plan specifying the time, venue, program, and participants of the ceremony;
b) Approval of organization plans for anniversary activities:
- Ministers, heads of central agencies must approve the organization plans for ministry and central authority activities;
- Chairpersons of the provincial People's Committees must approve the organization plans for provincial activities and localities.
c) Heads of ministries, central agencies, and provinces establish a Steering Committee and an Organizing Committee for the commemoration according to the approved plan and ensure the solemnity, practicality, efficiency, and economy of the event.
2. Other years: Organize propaganda, education, emulation, workshops, seminars, and other practical activities to commemorate the anniversary of establishment or traditional days. No celebration ceremony shall be organized.
