Is additional admission allowed if the student in Vietnam has already confirmed enrollment?

Based on Clause 4, Article 21 of the Regulation on University Admission and College Admission for Preschool Education issued with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT:

Notification of Results and Enrollment Confirmation

1. The training institution sends the admission notice to admitted students, clearly stating the necessary procedures for students upon enrollment and the methods of enrollment.

2. Students confirm enrollment online on the system before enrolling at the training institution.

3. For students who do not confirm enrollment within the prescribed time:

a) If not for a valid reason, the student is considered to have refused admission, and the training institution has the right not to accept them;

b) If due to illness or accident, with certification from the district-level or higher hospital, or due to natural disaster with certification from the district-level or higher People's Committee, the training institution will consider admitting the student or reserving the admission result for later enrollment;

c) If due to errors or confusion caused by the admission staff or the student, the training institution will collaborate with relevant individuals or organizations to review the evidence and decide on the student's admission or reserving the admission result for later enrollment.

4. Students who have confirmed enrollment at one training institution are not allowed to participate in admissions at another institution or in additional admissions, except as permitted by the training institution.

Are the admission scores for additional admissions lower than the first admission?

Based on Article 22 of the Regulation on University Admission and College Admission for Preschool Education issued with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT:

Organizing Registration and Additional Admissions 

1. Based on the admission targets and the confirmed student enrollments in various programs, the admissions council of the training institution will review and decide on additional admissions. The training institution will announce the additional admission plans, admission methods, and registration forms; admission conditions for various programs according to each admission method, which should not be lower than the previous admissions conditions.

2. Students who have not been admitted or have been admitted but have not confirmed enrollment at any place can register for additional admissions per the training institution’s plan and guidelines.

3. At the end of each admission round, the training institution will announce on its website the admission scores (and additional conditions, if any) for various programs according to each admission method; allow students to check their individual admission results; send admission notices and guidelines to admitted students for enrollment.

According to the regulations, the admission conditions for various programs according to each admission method are not lower than the previous admissions.

What are the responsibilities of the student in the university admission process in Vietnam?

Based on Clause 1, Article 23 of the Regulation on University Admission and College Admission for Preschool Education issued with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the responsibilities of the student in the university admission process are as follows:

- Thoroughly research the admission information of the training institutions and do not register for programs or admission methods for which they do not meet the conditions;

- Fully provide and ensure the accuracy of all registration information, including personal information, regional and priority group information (if any), and registration aspirations; ensure the authenticity of the proof documents;

- Agree to let the training institution to which they are applying use the necessary information and data to facilitate the admission process;

- Complete the payment of the admission fee before finishing the registration process.
